maternity Photography in Brighton and Sussex

My style of maternity photography is relaxed and natural, with a gentle editorial feel. I aim to create considered images that make you feel beautiful while capturing this special stage of your life.

Every maternity session is different, and I see pregnancy as a beautiful blank canvas for creating something personal to you. We can work together to decide on the style and feel of your shoot, or if you'd rather leave the creative direction to me, that's absolutely fine too.

YOUR MATERNITY SESSION

My maternity sessions are relaxed and unhurried, with gentle guidance throughout to help you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Sessions can take place at home, outdoors or somewhere that feels special to you, and can include your partner and older children if you'd like them to be part of the photographs.

Based in Brighton, I photograph families across Brighton & Sussex and at certain times of year I'm also happy to travel further afield.

Once you get in touch, I’ll send you my session guide, which takes you through how sessions work and what to expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to have maternity photos taken?

I would recommend scheduling your maternity photo shoot for somewhere between 28 to 36 weeks. At this point your bump is prominent but before
you potentially start to feel uncomfortable in the last few weeks. This also gives you some flexibility in case your baby arrives earlier than expected.

I'm nervous in front of the camera . Will that show?

You’re not alone. Most of my clients feel nervous in front of the camera at first, and that’s completely natural before a maternity session. Many of the parents and parents-to-be in my photographs felt exactly the same before their session.

Before your photo shoot I will spend time getting to know you. I ask all clients to complete a short questionnaire and I also schedule a pre-photoshoot phone call to understand what matters to you most and anything you might be worried about.

My approach is calm, relaxed and never rushed. I will give some gentle guidance and direction during the session to make sure we get the best possible photographs. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do, that’s my job!

What should I wear for my maternity photographs?

There’s no need to dress up (unless you'd like to, of course!) or wear anything that doesn’t feel natural to you. Soft, neutral tones and simple, cosy layers work beautifully, but the most important thing is to choose something that reflects your own personal style.

After booking, I will send you a copy of my style guide with outfit guidance and suggestions, so there's no need to worry about what to wear. I also offer all clients a complimentary planning and styling call before their session, which gives us a chance to chat through any questions, discuss your ideas and make sure you feel prepared.

Can my partner or children join the maternity session?

Absolutely, your partner and children are very welcome to join your maternity session. I would love to include them in photographs of this special time for your family.

How much does a maternity session cost?

My maternity session pricing is in my session guide, which I’ll send you when you get in touch. It covers how sessions work, what’s included and the investment, so you have everything in one place.
